I have been teaching private instrumental music lessons for two years now. I have gone through a four year degree program in which I've had the opportunity to gain peer teaching experience as well as teaching within various school districts for individual, small, and large ensemble settings. Students are encouraged to take what they've learned and participate in recitals, competitions, and any other musical opportunity they can find. I believe music should be taught as a means of personal expression, and so I also make sure to give students the tools they need to play in an expressive fashion, or even write their own music. I always create a unique lesson plan for each student based of their age, skill, and most importantly the music style or genre they want to pursue. I approach every genre with a strong foundation in order to make repertoire more approachable, such as learning a variety of scales, developing good tone, and working on method or etude books to strengthen the range of possibilities on their instruments. I do my best to make private lessons fun as well as productive. I utilize the blue Rubank books for students of all levels. No matter how developed a student may be there is always something of value in these books.
