I started teaching private lessons in college, about four or five years ago. I have taken students on several different instruments, mainly saxophone, piano and guitar. I find that it is important to encourage students to play and practice the type of music they enjoy, and to have fun performing and learning. I recently just graduated from Millersville University with a Bachelor of Science in Music Education. My main instrument is flute and I have been playing for over the past 14 years. My teaching style begins with creating a positive environment for the student to keep them encouraged and wanting to continue their study. I try to keep the students engaged by finding a balance of what the students want to work on, as well as what I want them to be working on. I understand that every student learns differently, and I won't teach every student the same way. In addition, I taught privately in three locations, including a Music Arts Center, instructing beginning through advanced students, both children and adults.
