More Information About Piano Lessons

Provided you do not have the space or budget to purchase an acoustic piano, such as an upright or baby grand, then a keyboard is a perfectly acceptable alternative. Keyboards with a weighted hammer action are the best option, as the key touch sensitivity is comparable to that of an acoustic piano. As a rule, more keys are better - at least 61 key pianos are advised. The most popular brands of keyboard are Casio, Roland and Yamaha and can be purchased from most musical instrument retailers. Keyboards offer great convenient due to their price, portability and headphones option.
One-on-one piano lessons straight from the comfort of your own home is a great way to learn to play the piano. 90% of our students choose to take lessons from home, mostly due to the convenience of not having to make travel arrangements both to and from their lessons. This is great for parents and students with busy schedules. The content of home lessons is exactly the same as studio lessons, however, you will need to have a keyboard or piano at your home. Home lessons provide the best learning environment, as it is a comfortable, familiar surrounding for students to learn in.
As piano lessons are customized to the needs of each individual student, we are able to better help you to achieve your goals. Beginner students may just want to learn an instrument out of interest and for fun - so the basics will be covered to get you up and running. This will include music theory and technical exercises, such as hand position, fingering and playing scales and chords. Intermediate students may be working towards an exam, recital or performance, so will cover playing, performance and stylistic techniques such as legato, staccato, glissando, sight reading, exploring harmonics and working on speed - runs, fills and solos. Other topics that may be covered in your piano lessons are things like piano modes, expanding your repertoire, developing improvisation and jamming skills and studying the various types of genre-based playing techniques and styles, such as Jazz, Ragtime, Blues, Rock or Classical piano.
In many ways adult learns have an advantage over young students. Adults have better self-discipline with regards to practice, a more patient and have higher levels of concentration. This allows them to develop the basic skills at a reasonably quick rate. Learning the piano is also a great way of remaining mental active during adulthood, and helps students to improve their hand-eye co-ordination and develop a critical ear. Learning to play the piano in adulthood can be beneficial health-wise, is a great way of harnessing creativity and stimulating the brain as can be immensely satisfying when achieving set goals.
Piano lessons for children will focus on learning the fundamentals of the technique of the instrument and learning to read music and rhythm. We suggest beginning piano lessons no earlier than age 4, due to the attention span of the child, as well as the strength they have in their hands for playing. Piano Lessons will offer an excellent introduction to learning music for a child. Music theory and musicianship skills will also be taught during the lessons. Piano lessons are a great choice for introducing the art of music to your child!
