I am a passionte teacher who loves to to teach kids and adults alike.I have been playing music since 5 years old as most of my family has been involved in music in some shape or form, which essentially rubbed off on me of course. I started with piano and then moved to guitar both have stayed with me thorugh the years and  will continue to do so.

Katherine G

Instruments:

As a recent graduate of the University of Delaware, I hold a degree in Music Education and am certified to teach music from K-12. I have been playing the flute for thirteen years and have performed in ensembles ranging from the UD Symphony Orchestra as a flutist/piccolo player to UD Singers as a vocalist and UD Jazz Ensemble II as a trombonist. I spent the past two summers performing operetta and musicals on flute, piccolo, clarinet, and alto/tenor saxophone with the College Light Opera Company. I have always had a passion for teaching; I am currently working on my M.A. in Musicology at Tufts University, and I hope to pursue my PhD. in order to work with students at the college level.

Kai S

Instruments:

Hello, and thanks for reading about me!  I recently graduated from New England Conservatory with a BM in Jazz Studies.  Next Fall I will be pursuing a Master's degree from the Conservatory on a full merit based scholarship.  I play lead, jazz, classical, and all sorts of pop music.  You may find me around Boston playing in musicals, rock clubs, jazz big bands, a small restaurant with a trio, or even subbing in a local orchestra. I have performed with the Miguel Zenon Quartet, Kim Bum Soo, Jason Moran's Band Wagon, Wayne Shorter Quartet, Arturo Sandoval, Jiggs Whigham, Rick Baptist, John Clayton, Tiger Okoshi, Bob Brookmeyer, and the Boston Brass among others. And I have studied with Laurie Frink, Jerry Bergonzi, Wayne Bergeron, Arturo Sandoval, Luis Bonilla, John McNeil, Steve Emery, Tiger Okoshi, and Wayne Naus.

Josh G

Instruments:

Hi, I'm Josh.  I'm going to put everything on the table and tell you that I'm a music school drop out.  I dropped out because I had an opportunity to perform in a band that had a lot of potential.  With my time in that band, I made strides in my career on the instrument I was playing, the Chapman Stick.  I've been playing guitar longer than the Stick, and I wouldn't have told you about my college experience if I wasn't completely confident in my abilities to deliver quality instruction on Stick, guitar, intermediate bass, beginning piano and music theory.

More Information About Piano Lessons

We recommend that students get either a full size piano, or a weighted keyboard for their lessons. It is very important to set up a practice schedule every day. You can purchase a basic keyboard at a local music store or an electronic store. Some students may also wish to rent a piano if they do not wish to invest in buying one right away. Digital keyboards offer a good choice for the beginning student because they are portable and easily stored in your home. Keyboards will start at 65 keys at the smallest amount and increase to a full size keyboard of 88 keys. The most common brands of keyboard are Casio, Yamaha, and Korg.
Musika offers piano lessons in the comfort of your home. Provided you have a piano or keyboard to practice, you have everything needed to start learning straight from home! Taking lessons in the home is a great way to save time and money travelling to your piano lessons. There is no difference in the content of the lessons, whether they take place at home or in the studio. Home piano lessons are a particularly good option for younger students. It is a big advance for young students to learn in a familiar, comfortable and supportive environment.
Whether you have an interest in learning to play Rock, Jazz, Romantic or Classical piano, our piano teachers can help develop your playing through one-on-one lessons. Our teachers can also prepare you for exams, recitals and performances. For beginners, the basics will be taught. This will include learning the correct posture, hand position and fingering technique. It will include learning the notes and scales of the piano, learning basic chords and chord progressions, developing the musical ear and learning to apply these things to simple songs. Intermediate players will work on more exotic chords and playing such as diminished chords, 7th chords and applying these things to more challenging compositions. All students can develop their sight reading, ability to interpret sheet music and chord charts. Advanced students can study a particular composer o genre, can develop their repertoire, or work on their improvisational skills.
The piano is an easy instrument for beginners of all ages. We have adults who are total novices, some who haven't played their instrument in 10 years, and some who are more advanced students looking to take their skills to the next level. Our teachers have proven methods to get you the results you desire.
Piano is a great first instrument for children who have never studied music before. Our instructors specialize in teaching younger children, and will develop an individual lesson plan for your child. The youngest age that we recommend starting piano lessons is age 4. The instructor will be able to teach your child to read music, beginning music theory and musician skills, and how to develop a love for playing the instrument.
