Each student is different, so I use different method books to suit how he or she learns.  One student may learn quickly in note reading while another is stronger in memorization.  I use classical repertoire to give the students a solid foundation, and then as they progress, I will introduce popular songs that they love.  I incorporate music theory in all of my lessons because knowing theory opens many doors to what one can do with music! Lately I've been teaching my little brother piano playing on the side when I go over to my parent's house, he is really enthusiastic about playing for me and asks many questions while aptly listening to me. I also help out a couple of my friends that either used to play the piano or are just interested in the instrument and need a primer to get them going. For the begining for those students that they don't know music i teach them the basic, for example i start with the rhythm and after the fundamentals. They are going to learn how to read simple notes. Once they have a grasp of the fundamentals they are ready to be introduce into the piano. For the students that already know the concept and how to play the instrument, I ask where they are and I continue to provide them more so they can continue in there progress. Read More

As early as I can recall, Ive loved teaching. Whether that meant being a teachers assistant or elementary school aide in my younger years, or as a music educator throughout and post-college. In high school, I was a Dance Captain for my schools competitive show choir, and would compose, arrange, and choreograph. While in college, I went to several music educators conferences, and was an active member of both the NAfME and IMEA (Indiana Music Educators Association.)
