Nicholas B

Instruments:

Hello I am a passionate young teacher looking to inspire a new generation of students. I have a well rounded education in the instrumental music world. During my undergrad I performed as a pianist in my school's jazz ensemble, wind ensemble, marching band and piano ensemble. I also performed in various ensembles in multiple states including New Jersey, Virginia and Pennsyvania as a pianist and percussionist.

Sandra G

Instruments:

I'm very passionate about teaching and love to work with all ages of students.  I had a studio in Mountain Top, PA for 25 years until our family moved to Utah.  I recently relocated to the Lehigh Valley.  I've performed with many orchestras and have coached many students to be able to compete and perform at Carnegie Hall for many years.  I take great pride in being able to teach on an individual basis, meaning I teach according to what the student needs and wants to be taught.

Chuck H

Instruments:

I have been an active musician since the age of 5, when I began piano lessons. During my public school years, I played the euphonium and the trombone in the school's many instrumental programs, as well as sang in multiple choirs. In 2014 I graduated from Westminster Choir College with a Bachelors of Music in Music Education. During my time at Westminster, I have performed with many major orchestras and conductors, including the Philadelphia Orchestra, the New York Philharmonic, the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra, the Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Simon Bolivar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela. I appear on the GRAMMY Nominated Recording Annelies: The Anne Frank Oratorio, released in 2013 under the NAXOS label.

Benjamin C

Instruments:

Teaching music is an integral part of being a well-rounded musician. I have been teaching music privately and in group settings for nearly 10 years. In 2014, I graduated from the University of Miami with a Master of Music degree in Studio Jazz Writing. Music has given me opportunities to play and teach in many parts of the country and overseas as well. In 2010, I attended the Keep an Eye summer jazz workshop at Conservatorium van Amsterdam and premiered original works at the Blue Note Amsterdam. In 2011 I spent three weeks in Accra, Ghana creating and implementing a music program at a local Montessori school.

More Information About Piano Lessons

Some most popular keyboard or digital piano brands are Casio, Yamaha, Korg and Roland. When buying a keyboard, look for ones that have 61 - 88 keys, and have weighted hammer action. This means your keyboard will most closely resemble the playability of a real piano. Keyboards are convenient as they are cheap, space saving, portable and can be played with headphones. If it is within your means, we highly recommend investing in an acoustic piano, such as an upright, as they are better built and more satisfying to play.
Musika deals primarily with home lessons for students. The location is the only difference between our in-home lessons and our studio lessons. As they do not have to travel to their lessons, home piano lessons can be highly convenient for those parents and students with a busy schedule - students will need a keyboard to practice on, however. For younger students in particular, having piano lessons in the comfort of their own home can be of great benefit. They will feel more safe and relaxed in familiar surroundings, allowing them to focus on learning and enjoying playing the piano.
The content of each lesson is determined by the ability and experience level of each individual student. For beginner students who are new to the piano, lessons will be devised to give students the fundamentals of good piano playing. Students will learn the correct posture, hand position and fingering techniques for playing scales and chords. Intermediate players can start to increase their playing speed in order to perform runs, fills and solos, they can broaden their chord playing to things like augmented chords, diminished chords, they develop their sight reading, music theory - such as time signatures - and applying these skills to more complex compositions. Advanced players may want to study a particular genre or composer. Pianists who enjoy Classical music may like to study the compositions of Bach or Mozart, or maybe develop their Jazz or Blues playing. Teachers can also help prepare students for exam, auditions, performances or recitals.
"We have many adult students taking lessons. Whether you have studied music as a child, or are wanting to learn a new skill, music lessons are a great avenue to go with! Not only do they keep you young and energized, but our teachers are also able to be ""on your level"" and instruct you in a way you can understand."
Piano lessons for children will focus on learning the fundamentals of the technique of the instrument and learning to read music and rhythm. We suggest beginning piano lessons no earlier than age 4, due to the attention span of the child, as well as the strength they have in their hands for playing. Piano Lessons will offer an excellent introduction to learning music for a child. Music theory and musicianship skills will also be taught during the lessons. Piano lessons are a great choice for introducing the art of music to your child!
