Featured Cityplace Piano Teachers

Robyn R

Instruments:

I have been a musician almost my whole life, starting out as a singer in a children's church choir when I was five. I started playing cello in the fourth grade through the public school system in California. I am classically trained, but I love all different styles of music. One of my strengths as a string player is improvisation. I have played with many different pop, rock, and folk bands over the years and that's the kind of music I enjoy playing the most. I teach from age 8 up and while I love teaching all ages, I especially love teaching adult beginners. My personal philosophy is that it's never too late to learn! I currently work as a full-time Academic Librarian, and teach music on nights and weekends.

Damian G

I'm a passionate and motivated piano instructor who loves working with students and sharing my love of music. I graduated from the University of North Texas with a degree in Jazz Studies. In just eight years, I've performed at many venues across the country from Orlando, FL to the respected jazz clubs of Dallas, Ft. Worth, and Austin. I've had the opportunity to study with many distinguished teachers from all over the world, learning various teaching methods over the course of nine years.

Kasey K

Hey Guys, I'm a very enthusiastic person with a passion for teaching and love for knowledge. I graduate from NMSU with my BM in music performance in 2010. I've had great sucess and am well traveled when it comes to music. From symphonies to quartets, jazz ensembles to rock bands, I've done it all. I'm a recent Texas transplant and I really excited to begin working!

More Information About Piano Lessons

We recommend that students get either a full size piano, or a weighted keyboard for their lessons. It is very important to set up a practice schedule every day. You can purchase a basic keyboard at a local music store or an electronic store. Some students may also wish to rent a piano if they do not wish to invest in buying one right away. Digital keyboards offer a good choice for the beginning student because they are portable and easily stored in your home. Keyboards will start at 65 keys at the smallest amount and increase to a full size keyboard of 88 keys. The most common brands of keyboard are Casio, Yamaha, and Korg.
Taking piano lessons from the comfort of your own home is the most convenient way of learning to the play the instrument - all you need for your lessons is a piano or keyboard to play on! Home lessons remove the hassle of transporting your child to and from their lessons, and can be fitted around busy work schedules more readily. Whether the lesson takes place in-home or in the studio, the content remains the same. Home piano lessons are a particularly good option for younger students. It is a big advance for young students to learn in a familiar, comfortable and supportive environment.
Our teachers create a customized lesson plan for every student. Topics covered during Musika's piano lessons may include, but are not limited to: learning the notes of the piano, how to read music and play piano chord charts, how to play piano by ear, music theory, musicianship skills, and most importantly, how to have fun playing the piano!
Learning a new musical skill as an adult is a great way to keep your brain fresh! We have many adult students actively taking lessons with us, and this actually represents around 50% of our student base. Our instructors will offer an individually tailored lesson plan to the needs of an adult student. You will learn the technique of the instrument, specific repetoire suited to your skill level, and learn how to read music and sight read.
Piano is a great first instrument for children who have never studied music before. Our instructors specialize in teaching younger children, and will develop an individual lesson plan for your child. The youngest age that we recommend starting piano lessons is age 4. The instructor will be able to teach your child to read music, beginning music theory and musician skills, and how to develop a love for playing the instrument.
