My teaching philosophy can be described as 'one step at a time.' For me personally, some elements in my playing took a long time to develop, and nothing happenes overnight. I like to take elaborate steps with my students so that they have building blocks to continuously improve, while also ensuring them that progress is not always linear! I always like to hear how my students play in my first lesson to see what they know, and what they enjoy, and that helps me craft my plan to instruct them based on what they need and what they love! I teach every student slightly differently depending on their needs and age and more. There is nothing more fun than playing music so I love to help build their passion for playing the violin/vla/cello. I like the lessons to be fun experiences. I find that playing with others can be very encouraging. So whenever they can have group classes or share two lessons back to back with both of them there the entire time I love to do that. Read More

I always listen to what the student has to say and I make sure that what we are currently working on always relate to the student's goals. I also record every lesson and send them to the student right after we are done. That way the student can listen back and have all the informations that I gave during the lesson available right away. It is also very important to me that the lessons be entertaining, fun and focused as soon as possible on real music that the student wants to learn. Read More

I recently began registration with the Suzuki Association of the Americas, and am in the process of becoming a Suzuki certified teacher for Book 1. I find the Suzuki method extremely helpful for starting young students, however I also like to use other resources such as the Essential Elements book for beginners. I also want to focus heavily on note reading and sight reading at a younger age, so students have a solid foundation if and when they become members of orchestras or other ensembles. Read More
Instruments: Saxophone
It was because of this grant that I was able to attend the Boston University Tanglewood Institute for Saxophone Performance, where I took lessons and studied with some of the North Shore's greatest saxophonists, such as Ken Radnofsky and Jennifer Bill. For several years in a row, I have attended the Massachusetts Music Educators Association conference and took a variety of different masterclasses centered around education and musicianship. In the future, I would like to return to college to get a Master's Degree in Music Education, and continue to take inspiration from the music educators before me. Read More

I have been a career educator since 1998, when I began teaching in a high school and founded a music program. I am sure I have taught literally thousands of students. I have prepared students to go on study music at the college level. Now I have my own private school and am working with Musika. I take a lot of inspiration from the teachers that I have had over the course of my own life and at times find it important to study with great masters of the musical arts! Read More
