My teaching experiences stems back to my undergraduate career at the John J. Cali School of music. I began teaching and tutoring underclassmen in theory, piano and voice while also teaching dance classes in the community. After I graduated I continued teaching and gained an assistantship to continue voice lessons to undergraduate non-majors. I also was the assistant director for our musical theater revue. Sight singing, aural skills, music theory, and efficient practice techniques will all be at the forefront. Making lessons fun is my top priority, and I show that learning the basics and the fundamentals can be fun, if it is done correctly. For beginning students, I use John Thompson's books. Students progress through Bastien, and Burgmuller, before moving on to graduated solo repertoire. Intermediate and advanced students will work on core Classical and Romantic period piano works, while building dexterity and fluidity by playing scales, chords, and arpeggios. Read More

I am a fairly new teacher but since completing my degree in May of 2015 I have already began to build a private studio as well as teach at a few local music schools. I believe that in order to truly understand an instrument, practice must take place nearly everyday. In lessons, I teach students how to practice by creating short goals that add up to long-term progress. For younger students, I find it helpful to treat these goals as games in order to make practicing feel fun as opposed to feeling like work. Read More

In May 2019, I graduated from Rutgers University’s Mason Gross School of the Arts, earning a Bachelors degree in Jazz Studies (saxophone performance) as well as an honors certificate with accompanying 40 page thesis on jazz composition. This way, the student and I are working together to achieve a greater understanding of their instrument! I love feeling like I'm helping a student gain an understanding of a topic, rather than simply dictating a list of rules to know. The focus of my studio is as follows: breath support vocal health and safety tonation style For beginning students who are children, I start with basic songs that can build upon the fundamentals listed above. I begin to introduce solo repertore when appropriate but I do not rush this process.
