Terry T

Instruments:

Hello, and welcome.  As stated above, my name is Terry, and I am a musician, composer, instructor, and artist living in the Salt Lake City area.  I have been involved in music since early childhood, and started playing guitar in my teens.  Today guitar is my primary instrument.  I play a variety of styles, including but not limited to, Rock of all types, Blues, Jazz, Classical, and New Age music.  I play both electric, and acoustic guitar.  I have been giving private guitar lessons since 1988 and have performed in numerous rock and blues bands since that time as well. I also perform instrumental solo acoustic guitar in a Contemporary New Age style that I create by blending several different styles together.  Currently I am working on promoting my debut solo CD, Illusions.

More Information About Guitar Lessons

It is highly recommended that young students begin by learning on smaller, half or three-quarter sized acoustic guitars. For older students, an electric guitar may be suitable, on the basis that they can hold it correctly and with comfort. For between $150 - $200, many student model guitars can be bought from new. Electric guitar players will also need to purchase an amplifier and guitar cables, at additional costs. Remember, higher quality instruments are often easier to play, which will likely enhance the students enjoyment and development the instrument.
Taking in home guitar lessons saves you time, energy, and money. There is no need to pack up the guitar or amp to take them to the teachers studio, since a qualified, talented teacher can travel directly to your home. We make finding a teacher easy by matching you with a teacher who fits your needs and schedule.
The most important thing is that students learn how to have fun when they are playing the guitar! It can be a challenge to master the basics, and it does take a lot of practice, but with the proper teacher, students can be playing their favorite songs without too much trouble. Topics covered during guitar lessons include: learning the notes, open chords, and barre chords, learning how to strum and pluck with the fingers and pick, and also sightreading techniques and music theory.
Many adults take guitar lessons! Your teacher will develop an individualized lesson plan relevant to your musical needs and goals. Adults taking guitar lessons for the first time can expect to learn a lot of new things, and have fun in the process!
Students are able to start taking guitar lessons with Musika at age 6. Students of this age will find it much easier to learn on a half-sized classical guitar with nylon strings, and will start their musical development by learning simple melodies on the top strings. As students advance, they will start to form a range of different chords and learn to play more challenging songs - usually by ages 7-8. Often students will progress onto using a full size guitar by the ages of 10-12. During these years, students usually develop a taste for rock music want to play the electric guitar.
