Samuel K

Instruments:

I am a current student at Ball State University studying to receive a Bachelor of Science Degree in Instrumental/General Music Education with an add-on in Vocal Education. I am passionate about teaching music and helping others reach their full potential on whatever instruments they want to play. I am versatile and can play on almost every instrument with piano as my primary focus. When I am not teaching, I spend my time practicing, performing, and always striving to improve on any and every instrument I have available. And when I can no longer practice, I normally find myself composing/arranging pieces and training my ears to hear music better.

More Information About Guitar Lessons

It is recommended that young students begin by learning on smaller, half or three-quarter sized guitars. If they are able to hold it comfortably, older students could start off using an electric guitar. A good student model guitar can be obtained brand new for between $150 to $200. However, this price does not include the cost of buying an amplifier or guitar cables, which are essential for an electric guitar player. Higher quality instruments are often easier to play, which provides the student with a much greater chance to enjoy and develop in their learning.
Musika specializes in individually tailored, one-on-one guitar lessons in the comfort of your home. Whether your child learns in the studio or at home, the quality and content of each lesson will remain exactly the same. Home guitar lessons reduce the burden on parents to transport their children and equipment to their lesson, which saves time and money and helps to integrate lessons into busy work schedules. Musika prides itself on creating fun, engaging guitars lessons in an environment that students feel comfortable and familiar with - important conditions for their musical development.
Our teachers create a customized lesson plan for every student, so no two students' lesson plans will be identical. Topics covered during Musika's guitar lessons may include, but are not limited to: learning the notes on guitar, proper fretting, fingering, and strumming technique, how to read music, learning all open chords, how to play barre chords, how to tune a guitar, music theory, and most importantly, how to have fun playing the guitar!
At Musika, we recommend that adult students looking to start guitar lessons have a clear goal in mind. Whether your goal is to learn to play your favorite song, write your own music, develop a certain technique or join a band, our experienced teachers can help you make those goals a reality! It can take time - often months - to develop the techniques and co-ordination required to play the guitar to a good level. The best and quickest way to learn the fundamental skills is to take regular lessons and practice your guitar playing as often as possible.
At Musika, we recommend that the earliest age in which students start to take guitar lessons is about 6 years old. A nylon stringed, half-size classical will be the easier and most comfortable for younger students to play. In this age group, students will learn to play simple songs on the top strings. By the ages of 7-8, students can start to form chords and play and sing along to some of their favorite songs. For students in the 10-12 age bracket, they are likely to want to learn how to play rock music on an electric guitar, and should be comfortable playing a full sized guitar at this stage.
