Pete O

Instruments:

In-demand NY session musician, teacher, and musical director Pete O has studied with many of the world’s top bass players. In addition to his independent studies at Berklee Music school, Pete has had the pleasure of studying with industry legends such as Victor Wooten, Chuck Rainey, Anthony Wellington, Adam Nitti, and Matt Garrison. Pete’s highlights include opening the Gathering of the Vibes festival in upstate New York, featuring James Brown, Michael Franti and Spearhead, Gov’t Mule, and the Allman Brothers. After his recent appearance on Fox Television's "Huckabee," Gov. Mike Huckabee, a bass player himself, remarked "You did such a great job. You should give me some lessons on the bass!"

I have a love for teaching students of all levels and ages. My specialty as a guitarist is in jazz, but I bring that love for improvised music to a number of other styles: blues, rock, funk, acoustic/fingerstyle, country, folk, ska, reggae, R&B etc. I graduated from Duquesne University in 2013 with a degree in jazz performance. Pittsburgh is a great jazz town with a fantastic local scene, which was a very fun and nurturing environment for me as a student. Now I am in my second and last year at Rutgers, Mason Gross School of the Arts, working towards my masters in jazz studies. Rutgers has made me a part of a network of excellent, young jazz players, which has been a huge help to my performance career.

I have always been a musician first and everything else second.  I have found fulfillment in sharing music with others as a teacher, performer and music therapist.  I graduated in May with my master's in voice from the Eastman School of Music.  I hold bachelor's degrees and certifications in music education and music therapy.  Currently, I am teaching all levels of voice, beginning to intermediate piano and violin and beginner guitar while I pursue a career in opera performance.  I have experience with students of all ages including those with disabilities and on the autism spectrum.

Instruments:

I am a devoted and yearning music lover through and through! My parents brought me up that way as Broadway singers and dancers when I was born in Manhattan and it eventually spiraled me into a passion for performing, teaching and especially, listening to everything I could get my hands (and ears) on. I’ve been playing stringed instruments predominantly since I was 10 years old and went on to study Music Education at Kutztown University, where I played with the KU Orchestra and acted as principle chair for the 2nd violin section. I am now living in Philadelphia pursuing a teaching career and keeping busy by performing with many friends and peers in my community.

Instruments:

I am a soon to be graduate of Rowan University, studying bass with a Jazz Studies degree. I have been playing and studying music for 16 years starting with piano at the age of 8. In the 4th grade I picked up clarinet for the school band and played that until graduating from high school. When I was 12 I switched from piano to electric bass and have been playing it ever since in various styles from rock to jazz to classical and so on. After graduating high school I started learning upright bass in college.
