More Information About Flute Lessons

For a new flutist, Musika recommends renting initially and buying an instrument later on if the student has demonstrated some commitment. Reliable brands include Yamaha, Armstrong, and Gemeinhardt. More advanced players should consider a flute with open hole keys and a B foot joint. Very young players can use a curved headjoint to assist playing.
Taking flute lessons in your home offers a great way to master your skills on the instrument without ever leaving your home! Many students and parents find this very convenient as there is no additional time for travel.
Musika offers customized lessons for each student. Additionally, teachers will focus on posture, breathing, tone, articulation, note-reading, and instrument care. Musika teachers want every student to excel and they will do their best to help each player realize his or her potential!
Many adult players find the flute to be a relaxing and meditative instrument. Our teachers are comfortable working with new flutists at any age, as well as older players who are returning to an old love. The flute can be a great instrument to accompany others or to play as a solo instrument.
Most flutists begin in 4th grade. Unlike the piano or specific string instruments, it is not a good idea to start the flute before the student enters elementary school. The student does need to have the strength to appropriately hold the instrument, and have the lung capacity to blow into the flute and produce a supported sound. The flute is easy to hold, carry, and care for, so many young players find it an attractive option.
