Phillip J. W

Instruments:

My first love is playing for the love of music, second, to teach, even more than performing, all ages..Beginners, we first make sure they're not tone deaf. Advance, like with any good indtructor, we listen and watch for and handicaps, or limitations, formulate a plan, and bridge the gap and take them further faster ...

Renee S

Instruments:

I love teaching beginning and intermediate students in piano and woodwinds. I graduated early from Hiram College in 1993 with a degree in Instrumental Music Education. I have been proudly teaching general and instrumental music in the Cleveland Public Schools for the last seventeen years. I perform weekly as my church's organist and keyboardist for the Praise and Worship Team. I am currently attending Clevelans State to finish my Master's Degree in Instrumental Music Education.

Stanislav G

Instruments:

I bring the highest artistic and pedagogical standards and premiere academic credentials from the Cleveland Institute of Music where I completed both a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Clarinet Performance. I have had extensive experience in solo, chamber, and orchestral performance, which has provided me with a clear understanding of the level of artistry required for success in the current musical scene. I have been regularly engaged by The Cleveland Orchestra since 2008. Highlights of recent concerts include work under Alan Gilbert (Music Director of the New York Philharmonic), and David Robertson (Music Director of the Saint-Lois Symphony). This world-class environment has given me the wonderful opportunity to connect with some of the finest artists in the world.

More Information About Clarinet Lessons

We suggest that beginner students rent their instrument to start out. Clarinets come in either wood or plastic varieties, but the wood variety will be more durable and last longer. All clarinets come with a case, bell, lower joint, upper joint, barrel, and the mouthpiece. You would also have to purchase reeds or a reed making kit, as this is a neccesary item for this instrument.
In home clarinet lessons are extremely convenient for parents and students alike. Studying in home is no different than studying in a studio. Lessons are generally once a week.
Our teachers create a custom lesson and technique plan for each student. For the most part, lessons will focus around learning how to hold and care for the instrument, how to prepare it for playing, how to read music, sight read, and basic musicianship skills. Students will also focus on mouth position and breath support to play the instrument.
It is never too late to play an instrument. We have many adult students playing clarinet. Our teachers can work with you whether you are a beginner or advanced player. Many of our adult students notice significant progress in just a short time! It is important to practice every day between your lessons to notice the most progress.
Our recommended starting age for clarinet is around age 7. The clarinet has many keys, so the most significant factor to keep in mind is whether or not the student's hands are large enough to facilitate playing. It is also important that the student has the developed lung capacity to play. The clarinet is also a great choice for musicians already familiar with other wind instruments.
