More Information About Cello Lessons

There are a couple different options to consider when looking to start cello lessons. Students can either purchase a cello, or they can rent through an instrumental music store. Renting is usually done on a monthly basis, and the instrument will come with all the accessories you need. Renting is, more than often, the best option for beginners, as it is less of a financial commitment. It also comes in handy when the student is a child, and they are starting with a smaller sized instrument. By renting, you make it easier to change instruments when the student grows into a larger cello.
In home lessons is the most popular choice with Musika students. It allows both beginning and advance students to study their instrument even with very busy schedules. You will not spend time or money on traveling, and will have the same quality of lessons with our qualified instructors. Children and adults both love the idea of in home lessons as it allows learning to occur in the comfort and securtiy of their own home
Our teachers create a customized lesson plan for every student, so no two students' lesson plans will be identical. Topics covered during Musika's cello lessons may include, but are not limited to: learning the notes on cello, proper finger placement and bowing technique, how to read music, beginning to Advanced repertoire, including common orchestral excerpts, music theory, basic form and analysis, and most importantly, how to have fun playing the cello!
Many adult students request cello lessons because of the instrument's sophistication and beautiful tone. Many adult beginners will find the cello slightly easier than the violin, simply because finger placement is farther apart, making it a little easier to distinguish between the correct notes.
Young cello students will learn all aspects of how to play their instrument. They will be taught proper technique, and how to read music, all while working at their own individual pace. The cello is a large instrument, but comes in different sizes. Our teachers will be able to advise you on what size is best for the student. Our recommended age for beginning the cello is around 7 or 8.
