Additionally, I have been a soloist with orchestras and performed concerts sponsored by the US government, the Japanese government and was given a Contribution Award by the Phoenix Government. As the Junior Director/ Cello faculty of Cincinnati Young Artists Festival which takes place at Cincinnati Conservatory of Music every summer. I taught theory classes, recruited diverse students, and arranged all junior student lessons, rehearsals, etc. Based on my background and having worked with parents and students of different ages, I hope my students would not only improve their cello playing skills but also be a positive person. I set up each lesson of what and how to practice at home. So whatever we do in the lesson, is what you are to do in your personal practice, making it super easy! I suggest each students sits with the instrument at least 3 days a week, not including lesson day. I give you fun and easy warm ups to explore how to use the instrument. Then we work on fun pieces to explore the many beautiful sounds of your instrument and your voice as musician. Read More

For beginner students I usually start with teaching the fundamentals of how to hold the cello and bow and how to make a sound, using Pizzicato and bow movement. I then introduce the Suzuki volume 1-4 books and make sure that the student learns a piece that will help him or her improve the most but at the same time will ensure an enjoyable and successful learning experience. For intermediate and advanced students I usually get familiarized with the student's skill level during the first lesson and build an individual curriculum for each student that will involve pieces the student loves and wants to play, pieces that will challenge the student, and pieces that will help the student reach his or her goals as a cellist and musician Read More

I began teaching cello lessons sophomore year in high school and am excited to continue teaching in college. I like to focus not only on the technical aspects of cello playing, but endeavor to make the lessons enjoyable, especially for the younger students. I've had the pleasure of having many students with a wide range of skill levels, social skills, and personality, and have been successful at tailoring my lessons and teaching style to their needs. First of all, I always make my students enjoy music when they are learning anything from me. With beginners, I always be patient and kind, especially with young kids. Always singing songs with them, playing together with them and at the same time we will do some music games together. It helps young kids to get to know music and at the same time they won't get bored! Although sometimes they don't want to practice, it won't be a problem to me because we can always do other things like music theory, music introduction and singing when they are tired. Read More

For beginner students I always like to start from the Hal Leanords Essential Elements. It is a great way to start a student off and provides them the fundamentals they need to improve. After that I like to mix in a combination of scales and etudes to continue their technical training while introducing solo pieces to give them something more interesting to play. Starting from a strong foundation will allow the student to progress much faster and helps keep them from getting discouraged. Read More
