My teaching style is fun and laid back. I want students to see their potential by playing the music that they love. If a student wants to learn Taylor Swift, then we will learn the things to help that student achieve those goals, and they will be able to do this in a relaxed setting with a teacher that understands the difficulties of playing music for the first time. I'm a musician who has learned many styles of music himself, and I understand that there are many avenues for a musician to become a master at their craft. Read More

I bean teaching after studying drums for four years with Kay Carlson. After years of teaching professionally I developed my own curriculum, based on Kay's lessons what I learned of the Mueller technique from Richard Wilson. My students have gone on to win performance awards, first chair positions other recording phenomenon. Reading drum music is of course my method of communicating with my students. This allows me to hand write individual exercises closer to the student's needs. Read More

I started teaching when I first got my drivers license in order to maintain an income that was related to music. I quickly learned that I was quite decent at explaining concepts and connecting with students on different levels. When I was 19 I started working at the School Of Rock where I taught group classes, 1 on 1, and helped put shows on based on curriculum that I was given by the school. Read More

I've been teaching since 2005: Privately with students in their home or my studio, with brick-and-mortar studios, and with online lessons services (like Musika). It's most important that my students have fun learning their instrument, but I also emphasize daily practice and work on the fundamentals of whichever instrument he or she is learning. After all, if you don't work on the fundamentals, then you won't be able to play your instrument any better. Read More

Throughout the 8 12 years that I have been teaching I have been learning a lot about many different methods and teaching styles. I always had thought that what I was being taught could have been taught in a more natural and more efficient way. I have borrowed many of my ideas from some of the greatest teachers in history and believe the most in the bel canto method created but David Jacobsen who is an alumni of the Curtis Institute of Music, the greatest school of music in the world. I write all my own lesson materials focusing on what the student needs to know to play, understand, and enjoy music to achieve their goals. I have used several method books in the past but find them all limited or focused on styles or technique that is not what the student wants or needs to learn. I can teach from any established method if that is preferred, but instead enjoy challenging the student to understand what music is and how music is played on their chosen instrument, not just to read. I really began teaching when I became section leader in my high school marching band. I was in charge of teaching new music to my section. From that experience I leaned so much. After that I continued my education at Mesa Community College, where I studied music performance. While attending I studied privately and played in small combos. After I left MCC I went on tour with my rock band that eventually landed me in Los Angeles. Read More
